“Show up and throw up” isn’t just for sales anymore! It has become the de facto approach of today’s corporate trainer. Do NOT let this become YOUR approach! Each of us is responsible for what we train, how well that training is received and the extent to which it is applied. This is our responsibility and we must accept it. Once we do, we are in a position to become change agents for our company. Join our community by sharing your thoughts and responding to the accompanying blogs posted here.

I’m listening to your (kevinmhuff) podcast as I’m setting this up. The matrix model seem to be a good logical way of setting up your training.
I’ve never been in an organization large enough to need something like a corporate university, but it sounds like an interesting concept.
We have a lot of new hire training with my organization, as the turn over rate is… well, huge. We’re a telemarketing group, fund raising to be precise. The entry level is mostly high school kids working part time for 7 bucks an hour, between it being high school kids who don’t have a real strong need to work, as well as the fact that a large percentage of people simply can’t hack it in telemarketing, we tend to run training weekly.
I’m hoping to get some things from this blog that we can use to cut down on that.

I like the introduction. It gives a good idea of what the podcasts are going to cover and how it will help us in the future. The speakers voices (kevinmhuff, jasonbbailey) are very clear and easily understood.

First of all, the introduction was very well stated. I’ve never used a podcast before and
it seem relatively easy.
The first lesson, The Training Organization, reemphasized just what was in Chapter 1
of our textbook. The way the training strategies, training models, and the training
cycle was explained it made much more sense to me. The main facts were covered
in a way that made it easy for me to understand.
I can’t wait for the next podcast to be posted. This is a fabulous addition in helping
to review the chapters.

Working blindly on podcasts was a little awkward for me. I have no exposure to them. This made it easy to understand. These have been a really good tool to help with the studying of the chapters in my college Training and Development textbook. Thank you kevinmhuff.

This is my first time listening to a podcast and participating in a blog. I realize it is like journal, but…The more I use this, the better I will get at it. I just want to say:”It is extremely rare and awesome that an instructor would take the time to set this up with his students in mind. Mr. Huff, thank you for caring about the achievement of your students.
I am going to enjoy learning from these podcasts because the information is broken down to get a clearer picture and focus of what is expected.

What an excellent tool for learning! I hope this helps me understand the ideas and concepts better than just reading the textbook. I appreciate your effort in helping us to learn things in a new way.

I have been in the feild for many years and my hope is that this course will better my understanding of training and development; and learn the different sides of a training program.
The podcasts (now that I have taught myself how to use them) help me because I feel like I am getting a lecture on the course rather than trying to teach myself. I think this will help me better understand the material.

I enjoyed the podcast as well this was all very new to me never hearing one before. I might just be a dino after all. I agree that this will be a great new method to teaching if we can keep it going that would help me personally in all of my classes.
